Minichiello: Defensive work won us the game

Mark Minichiello believes Hull FC’s defence is back on track after the Black and Whites defeated Warrington 34-10 on Friday.

Hull have bounced back from the shock of twice conceding over 50 points at home to win three in a row and move to the top of the Super League table.

Minichiello says Hull’s work without the ball in recent weeks has been the key to their success.

“It was great again – we defended with plenty of energy and worked for each other again when we went down to 12 men so we’re taking a lot of confidence from that,” he told the club’s official website.

“Our on line defence won us the game. We held strong for long parts and we completed well and turned them round so it was a strong performance.

“We haven’t changed anything with our approach to defence. Being good defensively is a mental thing – you have to want to get out there and work for each and we do and I think it’s showing in our performances.”
