Millward to return down under

test

Ian Millward is to return to Australia next season, after being appointed as head coach of Illawarra Cutters.

Millward, 53, was sacked by Super League club Castleford 11 matches into the 2013 season, but he will return to work with St George Illawarra‘s feeder team ahead of the 2014 campaign.

After first coming to England in 1999, Millward moved from Leigh to St Helens in 2001 and enjoyed a successful six-year stint.

He led the Saints to two Grand Finals, two Challenge Cups and a World Club Challenge before departing for Wigan.

Millward, who has also had spells with North Queensland and Canberra, will be assisted at the Cutters by a player he coached while with the Warriors – Scott Logan.

Cutters chairman Sean O’Connor had this to say: “Both the Dragons and Cutters have recruited well for next season and I am sure that Ian and Scott will bring the best out of the players.”
