Warrington coach Steve Price says Mike Cooper’s performance against Castleford was one of the best he has seen for a long time.

The Wolves snatched a 12-10 victory against the Tigers on Thursday after a thrilling last-gasp 60-metre try from full-back Matty Ashton.

“They dominated field position but we kept turning them away. We held our nerve with a couple of calls and stayed patient and composed and came up with a big play at the end.“We’ve blooded a fair few blokes in the last two weeks, but Mike Cooper deserves a special rap. Tonight was the one of greatest front-row performances I’ve seen for a long time. It was a phenomenal effort.

“We had every right to stand down, but we felt as a club we had a responsibility to keep the game going.

“It’s important we stay grounded and keep working hard, it’s going to be a big challenge against St Helens next week.”
