Wigan hooker Michael McIlorum has escaped suspension after submitting an early guilty plea for punching during their defeat against Bradford on Friday.

He was charged with the Grade A offence by the RFL’s disciplinary commitee yesterday, having punched Bulls forward Olivier Elima, resulting in him being sent off.

The Warriors went on to lose the match at the DW Stadium, but McIlorum is now free to play against Wakefield on Sunday.

The option to take an Early Guilty Plea is available to any player who has been charged with an offence of Grade A to C and who has not been found guilty of any other charge of on field misconduct or who has not submitted a previous Early Guilty Plea in the 12 months preceding the date of the match in which the alleged offence took place.

Meanwhile, Castleford prop Craig Huby has been cautioned for dangerous contact on Widnes back rower Hep Cahill, in the third minute of yesterday’s 40-10 defeat for the Tigers.
