Leeds’ captain Danny McGuire refuses to take Huddersfield lightly, despite the Giants’ woeful recent form which included an embarrassing Challenge Cup exit against Swinton.
The two teams meet at Headingley on Thursday with the Rhinos knowing victory will take them to the top of table, but McGuire is taking nothing for granted.
“They’re obviously doing it tough and, losing in the Challenge Cup at the weekend, they are really going to be feeling that,” McGuire told Sky Sports. “We were in that situation last year when things weren’t going to plan.
“But they will be thinking there is no better place to come than Headingley and get a scalp. Our focus is making sure we don’t take our foot off the gas.
“Our preparation and attention to detail for the last six weeks has been really good and I think that’s why our performances have been really good.
“We’ve got to make sure we turn up ready to play, because Huddersfield have got some quality if you give them time.”
