Matterson expecting Crusaders challenge

Castleford coach Terry Matterson is expecting a tough challenge when his side host Crusaders tonight at The Jungle.

The Tigers turned the then Celtic Crusaders over twice last season, but the Welsh side have shown marked improvement this time round, under the guidance of former Bradford and Wigan boss Brian Noble.

Matterson said: “I was at the Crusaders game with Harlequins last Friday and they look a well drilled team with a very good kicking game and we are expecting a tough encounter. They have recruited well and their squad has a good deal of NRL experience in their ranks, and they also have quite a few former Tigers on board who no doubt be looking to show what they can do back at the Jungle.

“For our part we have got to be focused for eighty minutes, last week we were matching Wigan but we lost our way for what was less than ten minutes and let them take control of the match. The guys though are determined to get that first home win of the season and desperate to reward our fans whose support has again be tremendous.

“I expect Chris Tuson to make his debut and Shaun Ainscough is available again so we have a few more options which we need to capitalize upon and take the game to Crusaders and if we can play consistently for the eighty then I believe that we have the ability to take the points.”
