Marshall proud of Halifax players

Halifax coach Richard Marshall was pleased with the effort that his players showed at home to Widnes on Sunday, despite them losing their opening game of the Qualifiers 14-0.

The Vikings were also reduced to 12 men when Stefan Marsh was yellow carded, and the deficit was only 4-0 in the Chemics’ favour until two tries in the last two minutes sealed the result.

“We maybe should have capitalised when Widnes were down to 12 men, but it was a great performance from us and I don’t think it surprised the players at all,” said Marshall after the game.

“They’ve played really well this year and are full of confidence. They played with some spirit, vigour and passion in abundance.

“The players have just said ‘we didn’t play our best’ but we were still happy with a lot of areas today.

“If we can get up to something near our best then look out.”
