Man of Steel 2022: Jai Field leading the way with six points

Wigan’s Jai Field has received the maximum points of six so far for the 2022 Steve Prescott Man of Steel award. 

The full-back has impressed in the opening two rounds of Super League, displaying man of the match performances against both Hull KR and Leeds.

He tops the Man of Steel leaderboard with six points.

Wigan opened their campaign with a 24-10 victory over Hull KR, before defeating leads 34-12 at home. Field has scored four tries so far this season, including a hat-trick against the Rhinos in a career first.

Who impressed in round two

Centre Peter Mata’utia received three points following Warrington’s win over Castleford on Thursday night. He scored a try against his former club to help Wolves to a 34-10 victory over Lee Radford’s side.

Half-back George Williams was rewarded with two Man of Steel points, while try-scoring forward Robbie Mulhern collected one.

In Wigan’s win, Sam Powell received two points while veteran Thomas Leuluai secured one.

Alex Walmsley collected the maximum of three points in St Helens’ 38-6 win over Hull. Try-scorers Sione Mata’utia and Jack Welsby received two and one points respectively.

It’s been an impressive weekend for Huddersfield captain Luke Yates. As well as featuring in Super League’s Team of the Week, he collected three points following his side’s 26-12 victory over Hull KR.

Hooker Danny Levi received two, while Super League’s top try-scoring forward Chris McQueen collected one.

Sam Tomkins receives first points

The reigning Man of Steel Sam Tomkins collected three points after helping his side to a 24-22 win over Wakefield in Perpignan.

The full-back converted all four tries on Saturday.

Wakefield’s Max Jowitt received two, while Brad Walker got one.

Following his four-try performance, Ken Sio collected three Man of Steel points. Salford remain undefeated in 2022 following their 38-12 home win over Toulouse.

New 2022 recruit Brodie Croft and Marc Sneyd with the next best respectively.
