Magic Weekend: Dobson try was farcical – Gentle

James Gordon

Hull coach Peter Gentle blasted a “farcical decision” by referee Steve Ganson, but refused to blame it for their Magic Weekend loss against Hull KR.

The Airlie Birds squandered a 14 point lead to lose in the dying seconds, courtesy of a late David Hodgson try, although there was much talk of a forward pass in the build up to Michael Dobson‘s 74th minute try, which brought Rovers within two points at 30-28, setting the platform for their winning score.

Gentle told the club’s official website: “The Dobson try was farcical, it really was. It was so far forward, but what can you do about it?

“You are going to get your tough calls, your wrong calls and your bad calls, but we have to be better at finishing a team off. To be 14 points up with 12 minutes left and not win the game is not good enough and we have to be better than that.”
