London Broncos sign Ryan Morgan from St Helens

Newly-promoted London Broncos have signed centre Ryan Morgan from St Helens on a season-long loan.

Morgan, 28, has spent the past two seasons with Saints after joining from Melbourne Storm, and scored 12 tries in 21 appearances last year.

Coach Danny Ward told the London Evening Standard: “Ryan will bring great experience to the squad for 2019. I am excited to get started with him in training now and looking forward to seeing him in a London shirt.”

The Australian is the Broncos’ most significant signing so far following their shock promotion back to Super League for the first time since 2014.

They have also added forwards Nathan Mason and Greg Richards from Huddersfield and Leigh respectively, as well as hooker Matty Fozard from Sheffield and Hull utility Jordan Abdull.

St Helens CEO, Mike Rush, said: “We have a lot of competition for places in the squad and therefore we felt it was best for the club and Ryan if he went out on loan.

“Ryan is too good a player not to be playing regularly and will be a great fit at the London Broncos.

“With Mark Percival and Kevin Naiqama being our starting centres, and Ryan needing to play week in week out, we felt the move was best of both parties.

“We thank London and Danny Ward for their help in making his move happen and we wish Ryan nothing but the best for 2019.”
