Linzi Prescott, the wife of late rugby league legend Steve Prescott, is intensifying her preparations for the Great Manchester Run, which takes place next month.

Linzi is one of ‘Radcliffe’s Great Runners’, a team of six local women who are being trained and mentored by athletics legend, Paula Radcliffe.

Linzi is running to raise money for the Steve Prescott Foundation, and she is inviting all rugby league fans to run the race too.

She has been benefitting from special pep talks and training tips from Radcliffe, who remains the World Record holder for women’s marathon, with a time of 2:15:25.

“Everyone has their own personal goal for taking part in the Morrisons Great Manchester Run and I was delighted to meet Linzi and the team and see how they are progressing in the countdown to May 10,” said Radcliffe.

“I’d like to encourage more women to take up running – it’s been my life and is a great form of exercise.

“You don’t have to be an elite athlete to take part. A 10k road run is the perfect entry level distance. It’s long enough to be a challenge but not too daunting for a first-timer.”
