Leeds union starlets train with Rhinos

Leeds have taken on four players from the rugby union club they share Headingley with, Leeds Carnegie.

Scrum half Matt Dudman has already been training with the Rhinos’ Under 19s side for a number of weeks, but he has now been joined by back-rower Dan Grange, centre Josh Walters and winger Nick Rawsthorne.

The four players will spend varying amounts of time training with the Rhinos during the off season and beyond in the case of Walters.

Leeds Carnegie Academy Manager Mark Luffman said: “It is important that we give young players the opportunity to develop and learn new skills. We have a unique opportunity here at Leeds Rugby and by working with my opposite number Barrie McDermott we have been able to spot players who will benefit from the chances we are uniquely able to offer them.

“Simon Bell now looks after the welfare side of things for both academies which makes sure the players best interests are always at the heart of our decisions.”
