Leeds handed Vickery boost

Leeds winger Joe Vickery did not suffer an ankle fracture in Friday’s win over Hull, but still faces a spell on the sidelines.

Vickery, 23, was forced off in the first half of his competitive debut for the Rhinos, and scans have shown he has picked up ligament damage, with the extent of the injury and timescale for recovery not known until later in the week.

Head Coach Brian McDermott said: “I am pleased for Joe that it is not a fracture. The medical staff will work closely with him now to make sure he rehabilitates correctly and gets back out on the field as soon as he is 100%.”

The Exeter-born wideman was previously with Gold Coast Titans, and earned a contract at Headingley after impressing during a trial spell over the close season.
