Warrington stand-off Lee Briers is set to make his comeback from injury for Swinton against Whitehaven on Thursday.

Briers, 34, has not played since the round two draw at Wigan, and was due to make his comeback against Keighley in the Challenge Cup a fortnight ago, but injured a calf muscle in training.

He will now return to action in a Swinton jersey, under the controversial dual-registration system.

The Wales international said: “It was my choice. I count myself as a one-club man and I thought ‘can I really put another club jersey on?’

“That was the hard bit for me. But you get over that. That’s just a bit of pride.

“The main thing is that it’s going to help get me back playing Super League. It’s also helping Swinton out.”

Briers has spent 17 years at Warrington, making more than 400 appearances for the club, and is their record points scorer.
