There were a couple of entertaining battles in League 1 on the weekend.

Keighley Cougars ran in eight tries to ease past North Wales Crusaders 46-28 at Queensway Stadium on Sunday. Adam Ryder scored two tries for the Cougars, while Brad Brennan crossed the whitewash for the Crusaders.

Hunslet caused a little bit of an upset as they beat Doncaster 35-16 at the Keepmoat Stadium. It is only the third loss of the season for the Dons. Joe Sanderson kicked seven goals from seven attempts and even scored a try.

It was the magic night out in Newcastle on Friday night. Newcastle Thunder fell short to Bradford Bulls 26-16 in front of a crowd of 4,137 at Kingston Park. Dane Chisholm scored a try and kicked five goals for the Bulls, while Jack Aldous and Dalton Grant were sent off for fighting.

Papua New Guinean Dion Aiye scored two tries to help Whitehaven run-out 44-26 against London Skolars in the capital on Saturday. Scotland international Callum Phillips also got on the scoresheet for Haven. Matty Fleming, who played for Skolars on dual-registration from London Broncos, was sin-binned for obstruction.

York City Knights ran in 16 tries to thrash Hemel Stags 90-0 and go top of the League 1 table. Hull KR full-back Will Dagger scored two tries and KR half-back Matty Marsh scored four tries for York – both were playing on dual-registration. Ash Robson also grabbed a hat-trick.

Former New Zealand international Fuifui Moimoi made his Workington Town debut on Sunday, helping Town comfortably beat Coventry Bears 52-4 at the Butts Park Arena. Perry Singleton scored two tries for Workington.

Zack McComb scored a hat-trick to help Oldham thrash West Wales Raiders 74-0 at Stebonheath Park on Saturday. Matt Reid and Dave Hewitt both got two tries each for the Roughyeds.

York sit at the top of the League 1 table, ahead of Bradford on goal difference. Hemel and West Wales are still looking for their first wins of the season.
