Sydney Roosters have confirmed the signing of former Leigh Centurions hooker Kurt Baptiste for the remainder of the season.

The 26-year-old has joined the club with immediate effect on a one-year deal. He makes his return to the NRL after being granted a release by Championship side Leigh, for whom he only played one game for.

Baptiste has played 61 games in the NRL for Brisbane Broncos and Canberra Raiders between 2011 and 2017.

And Roosters recruitment manager, Adam Hartigan, is delighted to have landed the Papua New Guinea star.

He said: “We’re pleased to have secured Kurt’s services for this season.

“Kurt is strong and athletic, and he will add some great depth to our squad as a back-up hooker to Jake Friend.”
