Kirmond backs Brown stay

Huddersfield back-rower Danny Kirmond says the players are delighted that head coach Nathan Brown is staying at the club.

Brown signed a new 12-month contract extension earlier this week, to make sure 2012 is his fourth year at the Galpharm Stadium.

And Kirmond, 25, who has featured in the last three games after an injury-plagued first half of the season, was pleased to hear the news.

He said: “We were devastated! No in all seriousness everyone was delighted to hear the news that Browny was staying on and had signed a new contract. It hasn’t really played on the players minds too much but everyone is really pleased with the news and I’m sure the fans are too. Nathan has taken the club forward a considerable amount over the last two and a half seasons so it’s a boost for everyone to know that he’s staying here.

“When he walks into a room he’s got an air of confidence about him and that transfers itself to the players. He doesn’t talk any nonsense and he tells you exactly how it is, that sort of honesty is appreciated. If you haven’t been on your game then he will let you know and there’s every chance you won’t be playing the following week. You know where you stand with him and if you aren’t playing well for him week in week out then you won’t be involved for very long.”
