Kirk Yeaman calls on side to take positives into Leeds

Kirk Yeaman has called upon his side to produce another performance at Leeds like they did against Huddersfield.

Yeaman was responsible for Hull FC’s victory over the Giants with two tries, and says the victory came on the back of the team’s best week in training.

He said: “I thought we showed the character and determination we have in the squad and we’ll need to show the same qualities at Headingley on Friday.

“We know what we’re capable of when we play to our potential, but yesterday wasn’t about the performance, it was about getting the two points and we did that.

“Everybody was still very positive going into the game, but this will give us a big lift now. It’s only natural for your confidence to suffer when you are on a difficult run, but hopefully we have turned the corner now.”

Yeaman refused to take any credit for the win despite the late brace of tries which won the game for Hull. He insisted the game was won after the team reacted positively to going behind against the Giants.

He said: “Scoring the try was nice, but it wasn’t about who got over the line yesterday. It was about the whole team coming together to find a way to win and it was a good two points for us.”
