Kevin Brown out for at least six weeks

Widnes coach Denis Betts has confirmed that skipper Kevin Brown will be missing for at least six weeks, and possibly longer.

Brown injured his ankle in the Challenge Cup quarter-final tie against St Helens on Sunday.

He has been in superb form for the Vikings this season, with many tipping him for an England place at the end of the season.

“We do know that he’s going to be in a boot for six weeks,” said Betts.

“When he comes out of that boot, then we’ll have to assess him.

“Then we’ll be able to tell exactly whether that’s hhis year or not.

“It’s a tough one to take. It’s a high price to pay for a Challenge Cup quarter-final.

“It was a fantastic game, but we came out with nothing and we also lose our captain.”
