Keighley Cougars have confirmed the signing of former England international Darrell Griffin for the rest of the season.

The 36-year-old arrives at Cougar Park following a couple of months with Morley in rugby union.

Griffin was sacked by Championship side Featherstone Rovers in January, but he has recently won his case for unfair dismissal against the club.

He will add a wealth of experience to Craig Lingard’s Cougars. He made over 300 appearances in Super League for Wakefield Trinity, Huddersfield Giants, Leeds Rhinos and Salford Red Devils respectively.

The Oxfordshire-born front-rower earned two caps for England in 2010 and is a World Club Challenge winner and Super League Grand Final winner with Leeds.

Griffin will take the number 35 shirt at Keighley and is in contention to make his debut in Sunday’s Betfred League 1 clash with Oldham.

In a short statement, the club said: “The club are delighted to secure Darrell’s services for the remainder of the season and we look forward to seeing him in action for the Cougars.”
