Jordan Johnstone has extended his contract with Widnes until the end of the 2019 season.

The 20-year-old has been one of the Vikings stand-out performers of this season, making 14 appearances for the club at hooker and half-back.

Johnstone made his Super League debut for Widnes in 2016 and has gone on to be almost ever-present this season.

“I’m delighted to have secured my future at Widnes,” he said. “I joined the club at the age of 17 and I love it here.

“We have a fantastic group of players and I’ve been offered great opportunities to develop my abilities, so I had no hesitation in making this decision. I’m excited to see what we can achieve in the seasons ahead.”

Widnes’ boss Denis Betts added: “It is really pleasing to see Jordan commit to the Vikings. Jordan took on a big challenge by moving to Widnes from Cumbria at a young age, and is now seeing the benefits of that bravery and hard work.

“He has made a fantastic contribution to the team this season and I’m excited for his future, knowing that he has a lot more to give in the years to come.”
