Batley Bulldogs have pulled of a major coup by announcing the appointment of the vastly experienced John Kear as Head Coach.

The Bulldogs have been in the market for a new coach since Karl Harrison announced he was leaving Mount Pleasant to take up a role with Halifax.

Kear, who has had coaching stints with Hull and Wakefield in recent times, is best remembered for masterminding the biggest shock in Challenge Cup Final history when his Sheffield Eagles side defeated the mighty Wigan to lift the cup.

The Bulldogs will hope to build on this season’s 3rd placed finish and hope that Kear can drive the club forward even more.
