Jarrad Hickey turns down Vikings deal

Widnes Vikings have announced they will not be signing former London Bronco Jarrad Hickey.

Hickey was released by the Broncos earlier this month after failing to be selected by coach Rob Powell.

The Vikings had agreed personal terms with the 26-year old, but a delay to Hickey’s visa has seen the former Canterbury Bulldog decide to return home to Australia.

Vikings Director of Rugby Paul Cullen said: “We offered Jarrad an opportunity to play until the end of the 2012 season, but following his contractual issues at London Broncos and the subsequent delays in his VISA application, he has decided to go home.”

Hickey flew to England having been signed up by Wakefield Wildcats on a two-year deal. However that was cut short, and Hickey made the move to London in time for this season.
