James Segeyaro is set to be included in Cronulla’s top 30 NRL squad after Ava Seumanufagai left the Sharks to join Leeds.

As a result of their salary cap penalty, The Sharks are operating at $353,000 below the cap for 2019 and Segeyaro was unable to register his own deal with the club earlier this year.

The Papua New Guinea international was forced to sign a contract with Cronulla’s feeder side Newtown Jets, allowing him to stay in contention for an upgrade to their top 30 NRL squad once the Sharks freed up space in their first-team squad.

Segeyaro has been training with John Morris’ side before starring for the Jets in reserve-grade, and he is set to do it again this week against North Sydney.
