Swinton coach John Duffy was very pleased with the way his players beat Newcastle to reach the final of the iPro Cup on Tuesday evening.
The Lions won a hard-fought encounter at Sedgley Park by 38 points to 28, and Duffy is relishing the chance to play in the competition’s final as part of the Summer Bash weekend at Blackpool.
“I’m really proud of my lads tonight,” said Duffy.
“We played against a very well coached side and they caused us many problems especially in the early stages.
“We panicked too much in trying to score on every set early on and we put too much ball down, but we got our game together in the end and scored some good tries.
“I thought Jordan James was huge tonight and he too scored a great try.”
