Injury boost for Tigers

Castleford will claim the League Leaders’ Shield if they avoid defeat to Wakefield in the Betfred Super League on Thursday.

Castleford Tigers boss Daryl Powell has been handed a triple injury boost ahead of their clash with Wakefield in the Betfred Super League on Thursday. (Castleford 2/11, Wakefield 4/1, draw 25/1 – Betfred Super League match betting)

The Tigers will make history if they avoid defeat to near neighbours Wakefield by picking up their first ever League Leaders’ Shield and they will also guarantee themselves a home draw for the play-off semi-finals at the end of the season.

Skipper Michael Shenton missed last week’s win over Salford with a back injury but he will be back to pick up the trophy if the Tigers avoid defeat at home. Cas have only had their colours lowered once this season at home and that was two weeks ago against St Helens.

He is not the only player returning as forward Junior Moors is set be named in the initial squad after missing the last eight games with a knee injury and winger Greg Eden is also set to be in the squad after missing three games with a shoulder injury.

It will be the first time in their 91-year history that they will finish top of the pile and Castleford legend Malcolm Reilly is tipping them to win the Grand Final as well (Castleford 6/5, Hull 3/1 Leeds 4/1 – Betfred Super League Grand Final outright)

“Obviously, the Grand Final is the major target but I really do think they can go on and win that, too,” he said.

“They stand out in Super League and they are far and away the best team in the competition.”
