Manly rookie Will Hopoate will miss up to six weeks after tearing his hamstring during New South Wales‘ Origin victory over Queensland.

Hopoate suffered a grade two tear to his hamstring after scoring a try on his debut for the Blues during the 18-8 victory.

Manly coach Des Hasler revealed the news to the media at training on Thursday.

“He is having further scans today but he is out of Monday’s match against Parramatta and could miss up to six weeks,” Hasler said.

He added: “It’s a shame he suffered an injury on the big stage but he will be back and show the benefit of his Origin experience.”

Hopoate, son of Manly legend John Hopoate, will be replaced by either Michael Robertson or Michael Oldfield for Monday night’s clash with Parrramatta.
