Hunslet players ask fans to cut out abuse

The Hunslet Hawks squad has issued a statement requesting that supporters refrain from personal abuse directed towards individual players.

The statement highlights that several players and staff associated with the club have been verbally abused in recent weeks by fans.

It reads:

“It is vitally important that we have such a loyal and vocal support that follow us home and away and the support we have received this season from the terraces has been superb.

“But recently individual players and staff have been the target from the minority of verbal abuse, and this does nothing but hurt the people and their families concerned, and negates all the good support and encouragement we receive.

“It is totally unacceptable to single out key individuals that have played and will continue to play major parts in the club’s future.

“We all need to stick together through this tough period as a team to help us achieve what we targeted as our goals at the start of the season.

“The players and staff will fight until the end and hopefully with your positive support retain our Championship status, after all All Huns aren’t we?!”
