Hull KR boss Willie Peters praised the professionalism of his side after they strolled in to the Challenge Cup quarter-finals with a 50-0 win over Batley.

Ireland international Ethan Ryan, who played at full-back, scored a hat-trick whilst Shaun Kenny-Dowall and Kane Linnett both bagged braces.

Peters gave game time to a couple of fringe players as well as a debut to Turkey international Yusuf Aydin off the bench.

Speaking after the game, Peters praised his side for the professional manner in which they approached the game against Batley, giving full respect to their Championship opponents.

He said: “It was business as usual, everything was the same. I’m a big believer in that. Process is key to your performance. We certainly weren’t taking Batley lightly.

“We worked hard for each other, sometimes we didn’t get things right system wise but we worked hard for each other.

“And we made a fair few changes as we went and we had to move players around. We moved players around and they’re not used to being in such positions and we got our numbers wrong at times.”

Mikey Lewis: It was a professional performance

Influential half-back Mikey Lewis racked up a tally of 14 points, having scored a try and kicked five goals.

On Lewis, Peters said: “The pleasing thing for me is he has taken on a lot of responsibility.

“There is a lot of purpose behind what he is doing, he knows how to play the long game.”

Lewis added: “We had a really good start. That’s what we wanted to do, score in that first set.

“It was a professional performance. I didn’t think we rushed it, we built the game nicely.

“If you score in the first set you can get a false sense of where you are at and where the opposition are at. Batley were in the game.”

Hull KR will discover their quarter-final opponents in Sunday evening’s draw, live on the BBC after the Castleford-Hull game.
