Hull FC‘s current squad have joined up with some of the club’s former stars to record a version of the club’s anthem ‘Old Faithful’ for charity.

All proceeds from the new version of the famous song will go towards the Hull & Proud Fund, which includes the Steve Prescott Foundation, Life for a Kid, The Disabilities Trust and Hull FC Community Foundation.

The recording took place in conjunction with students and tutors from Hull College, and took place in the college’s Hull city centre studios.

The final track is published by the college’s record label ALT Records.

Steve Prescott also features in the song, with some of the funds raised going to the Steve Prescott Foundation.

FC skipper Gareth Ellis, who plays the role of the track’s producer in the accompanying music video, enjoyed the experience of making a record.

“Old Faithful is synonymous with Hull FC so to be part of that in such a special year is quite a proud moment for all of us as players,” he said.

“It is always special to hear the fans sing it in the stands and even better when we sing it as a team in the changing rooms after a win, although thankfully there aren’t too many microphones around when we do that normally!

“It’s fair to say most the players were out of their comfort zone with this one, but we were more than happy to get involved and support four great charities during a special week and year for the club.

“We hope it raises a lot of money for charity and the fans enjoy it.”

Hull FC‘s marketing and communications director, James Clark, was grateful to Hull College for helping with the project.

“It was always our intention to do something special with Old Faithful in our 150th year because there aren’t many more things more iconic when you think of Hull FC, it’s up there with the Boulevard and irregular hoops,” he said.

“Everybody has really bought into the project including all those at Hull College who spent a lot of time producing the single, to the players themselves.

“It’s a great way to celebrate Hull & Proud Week and our anniversary in a light-hearted way and give fans something to enjoy, but more so a fantastic opportunity for us to show our support for the four charities in our newly created Hull & Proud Fund.

“They all do some brilliant work and the club are very proud to be able to support them in this way, particularly the Steve Prescott Foundation in such a notable year for the club and with Steve appearing on the single.

“I would like to thank everyone who helped make the project happen, in particular the team at Hull College.”
