Hull derby about hard work and completion for Chester

Hull KR coach Chris Chester has stripped Friday’s derby with Hull FC down to basics for his team.

They must work hard, keep the ball in hand and complete their sets. Then they can set the base for a victory which is essential to the Robins having any chance of the top eight this season.

“We’ve got to complete with ball in hand,” Chester told his club’s official website.

“At their place earlier in the season, we completed at 90 per cent but at the Magic Weekend we were around 69 per cent and that’s not good enough.

“We kept dropping the ball and turning it over in bad areas of the field and that’s going to be important, but following on from last week’s game against Salford, our aggression has got to be a lot better as well.

“They were very physical in the contact and they seemed to run harder than us.

“Hull are very physical too and they’ve got some good go forward. It starts with the two guys at the back, Fetuli Talanoa and Tom Lineham and great wingers in their own right, and Liam Watts is playing some good football as well.

“It’s going to be a physical game but we can be physical as well. We know we can, we’ve proved that we can outmuscle teams and we’ve got to outmuscle Hull FC on Friday night.”
