Huddersfield release Elliot Hodgson

Huddersfield have today announced that they have released Elliot Hodgson from the final year of his contract by mutual consent.

The 21-year-old, who only made one Super League appearance in 2009, leaves the club’s best wishes for the future with Managing Director Richard Thewlis commenting:

“There are a number of established full backs now at the club in Scott Grix, Aaron Murphy and Leroy Cudjoe on long term arrangements as well as young Elliot Gorman pushing through in the U18’s so we all felt it best if he sought another opportunity where he can play first team rugby.

Another consideration that we as a club have is that he would be an over age player in the reserve grade and as we can only play three of those players per game his playing time there may be limited to a degree also.

“In a nutshell though he needs to be playing week in week out first team rugby and his release will give him the best opportunity to do that and he has our very best wishes for his future.”
