Wigan prop Sam Hopkins has re-joined former club Leigh on a month’s loan.

Hopkins, 24, moved to the DW Stadium on a two-year deal last season, but is yet to make a first team appearance for the Warriors.

He is likely to go straight in to the Centurions’ team to face Rochdale in the Challenge Cup on Sunday.

Wigan Rugby Manager Kris Radlinski said: “The one month moan provides Sam with an opportunity to get some important game time in a tough Championship competition.

“Sam has worked extremely hard since becoming a full time professional and is making huge strides with us but he needs to play regularly and this agreement with Leigh works well for all parties concerned.”

Hopkins made 27 appearances for Leigh last season, scoring 10 tries.

His sole first team outing in 2014 came for Workington on dual-registration, where he came off the bench in an 8-6 win over Barrow in March.
