Holdsworth not in Hull until New Year

New Hull signing Daniel Holdsworth will not join up with his team mates until the New Year.

Holdsworth, 28, who joined the club from Salford, is currently at home in Australia having recently returned from his honeymoon in Hawaii, and negotiated an extended break with the City Reds, which Hull have agreed to honour on signing him.

It means that the Australian will begin his pre-season on January 2nd, some nine weeks behind other players in the squad.

Head Coach Peter Gentle told the Hull Daily Mail: “It’s not an ideal situation but it is not the end of the world either.

“Daniel comes in after Christmas, we’ll go away to Tenerife and then we are straight into the trial games, but he’s an intelligent player who will adapt.”

Fellow new recruit Shannon McDonnell is expected to arrive in Hull this week and begin pre-season training on Monday.
