Hodgson surprised at Ratchford omission

Exiles captain Brett Hodgson has expressed his surprise that Warrington club mate Stefan Ratchford has not been included in the England squad for Friday’s game.

Ratchford, 24, has been in fine form for the Wolves in recent weeks, but didn’t make Steve McNamara’s squad for the game, to be played at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Hodgson said: “I think one or two have been unlucky to miss out, in particular Stef Ratchford who’s been superb so far for us this season. I’m a little bit disappointed for him not being there but hopefully he’ll get some enjoyment out of watching us tackle each other!

“It’s a testament to the coaching staff and everyone involved at Warrington to have players selected in both the England and Exiles camps.

“It makes it even better for me that we’ll be playing on our own turf as I know the place well.”

The 35-year-old will captain the Exiles for a second time, having led them to victory in the second of last season’s double-header.
