Keegan Hirst has confirmed the option for another year on his deal at Wakefield Trinity.

The 29-year-old signed for the Super League club ahead of the 2017 season on a one-year deal with the option of a further year, and he has now confirmed his stay at Belle Vue for next year.

Hirst made his Super League debut for the club against Leigh Centurions in March and has gone on to play 23 games for Trinity after arriving from Championship outfit Batley Bulldogs.

And the prop forward is made up to extend his stay at Wakefield.

He said: “I am really happy to be staying with Wakefield. It is a great club that’s doing its best to move forward both on and off the field. We have a great group at the club and the fans have been fantastic.

“I really enjoyed my first season and I am looking forward to getting stuck into pre-season and kicking on for 2018.”

And Wakefield head coach Chris Chester is pleased to have Hirst in his pack for next term.

He said: “Keegan is another player who we have been able to secure for another season. I am really happy for Keegan.

“It was a big step up for him to come in and play at Super League level every weekend but he has achieved that and had a great season.

“I am looking forward to working with Keegan for another year and see him grow even more as a Super League player.”
