Hayne struck down

Jarryd Hayne is a doubt for Parramatta’s round three clash with North Queensland after re-injuring his troublesome right knee.

Hayne was struck down with a knee capsule strain midway through the Eels’ 36-20 defeat to the New Zealand Warriors at Parramatta Stadium on Monday.

Hayne was making his return from a knee injury suffered in the Eels’ final trial match with Penrith which caused him to miss the opening round match with Brisbane.

Medical staff say the injury is less serious than first feared but will find out the extent of the damage when Hayne undergoes scans tommorrow.

“It’s not a serious injury,” said Hayne.

“It’s gone from being stiff to being a bit loose.”

He added: “It’s going to take some time. It’s more annoying than anything. I just want to get it right and get out there with the boys.”

Hayne is almost certain to miss Parramatta’s away clash with North Queensland on Saturday.
