Haven Smash Hapless Oldham

Correspondent

Whitehaven scored twice within two minutes, Rob Jackson scoring both for Haven to put them 12-0 ahead. Oldham hit back from the restart a neat move from the scrum saw Paul Ashton cross; 12-4 after only four minutes.

Haven had to wait until the 18th minute for Aaron Smith to spin his way over from close range and two Craig Calvert tries and a try from Derry Eilbeck saw Haven lead 30-4 at half time.

Whitehaven again ran in six tries in the second half, John Duffy starring firstly putting Leroy Joe over and scoring two himself before putting Spencer Miller over after a break from Graeme Mattinson. Neil Baynes crashed over with a 10 yards barge.

John Duffy stepped over in the final minute but decided to pass the ball onto Mark Leafa over the try line so Leafa could score his first ever Haven try: final score 66-4.
