Halifax have signed forward Liam Cooper on a season-long loan from St Helens.

Cooper, 22, played four times for Halifax in The Qualifiers last season and also spent time with Whitehaven.

Coach Richard Marshall said: “Liam put in some really good performances for us during the Qualifiers last season and I’m really pleased to have him on a season-long loan.

“He’ll be doing some work with St Helens over pre-season but he’ll be training with us from January and we’ll be looking for him to be part of some of our upcoming friendlies.

“Liam brings a utility value as he can play in either the front row or the back row. He can complement our existing pack really well.

“He’s aggressive, he’s keen to learn and those are going to be great attributes for us in 2019.”

Cooper has signed a new one-year deal with St Helens, who revealed they wouldn’t be running a reserve team in 2019 following the lack of interest from other clubs.
