Halifax could be disqualified from the Challenge Cup after their fifth round tie with Batley was postponed pending the outcome of a RFL inquiry.

The RFL is investigating Halifax’s selection of prop Michael Ostick in their fourth round tie against Swinton, after he had already featured in the competition for Rochdale against Lezignan in round three.

Fax were due to play Batley at The Shay today, but the game has been postponed until the RFL come to a conclusion.

RFL Operational Rule B4:15 states that: “The RFL board shall disqualify any competing club which it determines to have fielded an ineligible player save where the club can show there is no fault or negligence.”

Halifax are co-operating fully with the inquiry. The RFL will be making no further comment pending the completion of its investigation.
