Green confident Wigan can cope with injuries

Wigan Warriors stand-off Blake Green is confident the side can cope with the loss of Lee Mossop to injury.

The prop dislocated his shoulder in the 48-18 win over London Broncos and could be out of action for upto three months.

Green, who joined from Hull KR for the start of the 2013 season, says the squad has the depth to compensate for the loss and said in his bi-weekly blog.

“It’s a blow for him (Mossop) and the team as I’d say he’s been the guy who has led our front row so far this season. He’s a grafter though and has had this kind of injury before so I know he’s going to do everything he can to get back and fresh to help us out later in the season.”

Having already lost forward Epalahame Lauaki, Paul Prescott and Harrison Hansen to injury the news came as a blow.

But Green believes the likes of Dom Crosby, James Greenwood and Tom Spencer can all come into the side to cover the injuries.

“We’ve got some injuries in the forwards at the moment but the younger guys are really showing what they can do and it’s great to have such strength in depth. It’s not an ideal situation but they’ve been excellent so far and it will certainly help us in the long run.”
