Robbie Paul gave the visitors an early lead, but this was short-lived as Justin Murphy quickly replied for the Catalan side.

But the Dragon’s hopes were dashed with tries from Chris Nero and Stuart Donlan all but guaranteeing victory for Huddersfield.

Julien Rinaldi cut the deficit for the hosts but the Giants sealed the encounter with a try from Martin Aspinwall.

Huddersfield coach Jon Sharp said he was delighted with the way his side played; adding that it was good preparation for the Giants’ game with Bradford on Sunday.

"I was delighted with the way the players went about this very tough task” said Sharp.

"Catalans threw an awful lot at us but we stood up to the pressure superbly and thoroughly deserved the win.

"This victory puts us in an excellent mood for our final home game of the season when we play Bradford next Sunday."

Catalans boss Mick Potter admitted that his side had disappointed their fans and made mistakes that shouldn’t be made at Super League level.

The Catalan side will now finish bottom of Super League.
