Huddersfield have announced hooker George Roby has signed a new deal, keeping him at the club until the end of 2023.

Roby joined the club from Warrington ahead of the 2020 season and has since been playing in the academy and the reserves.

The 19-year-old also had a spell in League 1 with North Wales Crusaders.

Roby told the club website: “I’m buzzing to sign an extension with the club. I was shocked when I got the call from my agent. But I was absolutely buzzing that I was offered an extension.

“I feel I’ve come on leaps and bounds since I’ve first come to the club, and I’m enjoying my Rugby. Watto is good at getting the younger lads involved in the first-team. I’m enjoying my opportunities in training, filling in for Danny Levi and Adam O’Brien.

“When I’m getting those opportunities in training, I’m trying to show as much as I can and I just want to keep getting them.”

Giants Head Coach Ian Watson added:”He’s really matured and developed while he’s been with us, so he’s been rightly rewarded with a new contract.

“His attitude off the field has improved massively and he’s been driving the players in the right direction and encouraging people to be better.

“As well as him developing on the field, the big thing for me has been his developing off the field. We’ve rewarded that development with a one-year deal and we’ll see where we go from there.”
