Gentle takes the positives

Peter Gentle believes his Hull FC side will have a good season, despite them falling to a 36-18 defeat to Hull KR in his first game in charge.

The Airlie Birds have spent time at a warm-weather training camp in Tenerife, as Gentle looks to stamp his mark on his squad, which includes several new faces in key positions.

They didn’t have the answer to Rovers at the KC Stadium, but Gentle did get a look at every member of his 25-man squad.

He told the club’s official website: “I thought we looked a little disjointed, but we showed what we are capable of in patches.

“I’m disappointed with the score and conceding 36 points, but I’m more disappointed that our fans didn’t get too many chances to see what we can do in attack.

“But we won’t read too much into the loss. It’s shown us some things we need to work on in training, but we’ll be better for the run out.”

Hull’s second pre-season friendly is against Bradford this weekend for Lee Radford‘s testimonial.
