Gelling ruled out for three months

Wigan winger Anthony Gelling has been ruled out for three months with a broken collarbone.

Gelling, 22, suffered the injury during Friday’s 46-6 win over Salford, which was his first appearance since a knee injury ruled him out of action earlier in the season.

Wigan coach Shaun Wane is also sweating over the fitness of half-back Matty Smith, who has a shoulder problem.

Wane told the club’s official website: “We won’t know the extent of Matty’s shoulder problem until the swelling goes down.

“We’ll have a better idea later in the week. But Gells will probably be out for about 14 weeks. It’s a blow for him – but he will come back stronger, and in the meantime it provides an opportunity for someone else.”

Wigan face Hull KR in the Challenge Cup this weekend.
