England star Gareth Widdop is homesick and wants a move back to the UK, according to reports Down Under.

The Mole is reporting that the half-back, who has 27 caps for England, would like to leave St George Illawarra Dragons and move back to the UK.

Widdop has never played professional rugby league in the UK though, with the Halifax-born player emigrating to Melbourne with his family when he was 16.

The 29-year-old came through the ranks at Melbourne Storm, where he made his NRL debut in 2010 and played 70 games for the club.

Widdop made the move to the Dragons in 2014 and has made 115 appearances for the club, scoring 32 tries and kicking 357 goals.

If Widdop was to move to Super League, his wages would see him become a marquee player.

He has won an NRL Premiership, Minor Premiership and a World Club Challenge.
