Jake Friend will remain with the Sydney Roosters for another three seasons, after agreeing an extension to his current deal.

Hooker friend, 21, has made 69 appearances for the Tricolours and helped them reach the Grand Final in 2010.

“I love this club and I’m really happy to be contracted here long term,” said Friend.

“I have made some great mates here and I’m excited to extend my stay at the Roosters and continue to grow with this group of guys.”

Queensland-born Friend first signed for the Roosters at the age of 15 and has been through his share of controversy whilst with the Bondi Junction club.

He was convicted for drink driving before being sacked by the club in late 2009 for an altercation with a taxi driver.

However, he was reinstated to the Roosters squad the following year.

“We see Jake Friend as integral to our future. Jake has worked tirelessly to develop himself on and off the footy field, and he’s to be commended for that,” said Sydney Roosters Head Coach Brian Smith.

“Apart from his great football talent, Jake is highly thought of by the players, staff, members and sponsors alike.”

“We are very pleased to have Jake on board for four more years as we build to reach our full potential.”
