Four Championship players charged

Four players from Co-operative Championship and Co-operative Championship One clubs will appear before the RFL Disciplinary Committee next week after being charged with offences committed in recent fixtures.

Dewsbury Rams prop Anthony England has been charged with the Grade B offence of sustained punching in the 20thminute of his side’s defeat by Dewsbury Rams, an offence which led to his dismissal.

Batley’s Shaun Hesketh has been charged with the Grade A offence of punching in the same incident.

Oldham players Mark Brocklehurst and Jason Boults will also appear before the Disciplinary Committee, Brocklehurst to answer a charge of a Grade B dangerous throw in the Co-operative Championship One fixture at Whitehaven on Easter Monday.

Boults has been charged with the Grade B offence of using foul and abusive language to a match official in the 78thminute of the same match, an offence which led to his dismissal.

All four players were charged after the incidents were viewed by the RFL Match Review Panel, who also issued cautions to the following players:

Tim Spears (Featherstone) – dangerous contact in the 48thminute v Barrow.
Steve Maden (Leigh Centurions) – dangerous contact v Featherstone in the 66th minute.

Details of appearance dates and times will be confirmed early next week.
