St Helens have swooped to sign highly rated 23-year-old Mark Flanagan from Wests Tigers on a two-year-deal commencing in 2012.

The utility forward, formerly with the Wigan Warriors, is currently in his second year at Wests Tigers in Sydney.

St Helens Head Coach Royce Simmons said “I coached Mark previously at Wests Tigers. He is a very good young British player who has benefited from his time in the NRL.

“He has an excellent attitude both on and off the field. He is tough and versatile, can play in the middle or on an edge and can cover at hooker if need be.”

Flanagan played for Wigan between 2007 and 2009 before joining Wests and making his NRL debut against Manly in March 2010. To date he has made 22 appearances for the NRL outfit, scoring two tries in the process.
