Man of the match Matt Parcell says Hull KR’s victory over Castleford will give his team-mates a confidence boost for the 2022 season.

Tony Smith’s side claimed a 26-10 victory over the Tigers at Craven Park live on Sky Sports.

It was the club’s first win of the season, having fallen short against Wigan and Huddersfield in the opening two rounds respectively.

Sam Wood scored his first try for Hull KR before crossing for a brace in the second half.

Centres Brad Takairangi and Shaun Kenny-Dowall looked dangerous with both former NRL men scoring. However, with a try and a dominant performance in the middle, Parcell was awarded the player of the match by Sky Sports.

The hooker believes that the win will give his side more confidence heading into the season.

Hull KR 26-10 Castleford: Robins claim first win of 2022 – talking points

Matt Parcell reacts to Hull KR victory

“Obviously, we weren’t too happy with how we started the first two games,” Parcell told Sky Sports. “Everything was just a bit slow and not the kind of footy that we like to play. That was more like it tonight.

“Last week, we didn’t start very well. We let Huddersfield get on top of us and we wanted to not do the same tonight. I think we did a lot of work in that first half there which allowed us to play a bit of footy in the second half.

“It’s a long season. We just wanted to get back to playing the footy that we can play and that’ll give everyone a good confidence boost going forward.

“We’re a really good group. We’re a tight group. We knew that we’d come good.

“We just started a bit slow and we didn’t start how we wanted to the first two games. That was more like it tonight and we’ll go on from there.”

Next up, the Robins host champions St Helens on Friday, 4 March.
